Those 99 Names

Monsignor Langham has at last put up a post on his blogsite on the 99 Names concert, and to be fair to him pictures of the protest outside the Cathedral.

I listened to this performance on the BBC. The stark juxtaposition with the beautiful Victoria at the beginning was really, how can I put this gently, unfortunate. I can't help but feel that effective witness to Jesus Christ was demonstrated both inside the Cathedral by the music, and outside by the faithful protestors. In this respect, your salute to Bishops Langham's postings is warranted.

I hope the Mullahs don't get their hands on this recording. If they do, Tavener may have to run for cover. So much for "Dialogue".

When I saw the photograph of the Prince of Wales on Mgr Langham's website I thought that the Duchess of Cornwall had forgotten to have her hair done. It was only later that I realized that the lank tresses belonged to Sir John Teverner. It remains unsettling that Westminster Cathedral should have been used for the premiere of this work and more unsettling still to read the gloating news that the Prince of Wales is becoming a regular attender of concerts there. Although canon law permits the use of cathedrals and churches for religiously edifying concerts I cannot help feeling that the presence of royalty is seen as of greater significance than edification.

It was, I have to say, really very beautiful, if a little cramped.

In the light of the recent car-bomb attempts, and the attack on Glasgow airport, I wonder if Msgr. Langham can feel the egg running down his face. He should. He should also be removed from whatever rectorship of the cathderal he currently enjoys. His little concert was obviously conceived in heresy, and played only to the deaf ears of a murderous cult. You want to talk about Cults? Lets talk about Islam. Political correctness is civilzational suicide.

And regarding your local priestesses, get your cat implanted with a radio-tracker, and when it turns up on her altar, bust their behinds for animal cruelty and theft. Stand up to them Father, gather your faithful parishoners around you and call them for what they are: Poseurs and Frauds.

Benfan,
I don't think they've made Mgr.
Mark Langham, Administrator of Westminster Cathedral, a bishop
just yet ...

Muslims will perceive the calling on the name of their deity as an act of worship, as should we, if we are attentive to the Sacred Scriptures. Aside from the scandal that this is causing in countries where Christians are oppressed by Muslims, amongst the Muslims themselves, this will not go down well as to have the name of their deity intoned by impious lips as a form theatre and entertainment would be taken as an insult.

It's a no win situation. I;m surprised about Greek Orthodox Archbishop Gregorios' presence though. I expect them to have firmer theology. But again, he was also present for the released of the Judas book.
